Design Clinics
The design clinics at ISS are designed to help you understand concepts in art that are essential to growth. Whether you are hearing it for the first time or are a seasoned veteran, you will walk away with a new perspective.
Learn the "Ins" and "Outs" of Design
During your stay at ISS you will have the to opportunity to attend 2 design clinics. The clinics address some of the major design considerations every artist needs to know. The instructors will address topics including:
- How to approach working with the inside of your shapes
- How to treat edges
- The how to paint and think about negative spaces
- How a predominance of an element can ensure the correct feeling in your work
These half hour programs are shared through demonstrations and lectures.
Triple Demonstration Featuring a Live Model
There will be one more demonstration given at ISS. One day "the boys” as we are affectionately called by “the girls” will do a triple demonstration from a model. This is not given to impress but to show how differently 3 painters will approach a single subject. It is a good time to ask questions such as why our painting techniques and styles differ and how it changes the content of our work.
